eKit closing FAQ
Below is the FAQ discussing the closing of ekit. Over the coming months, we will be contacting our customers to ensure that our closing in June 2021 is as trouble free as possible. In the mean time, please read the FAQ below or contact us if you require further clarification.
When will my SIM card or Phonecard/Calling Card stop working?
Our global mobile and calling card network will continue operating at full capacity until June 30th, 2021. Until that date, the network will be fully supported by our technical and customer service teams. Note that recharges and top ups will not be available after January 31st, 2021. We recommend that you use up any active credits before June 30th, 2021 as balances are non-refundable.
Can I still recharge my SIM or Phonecard/Calling Card?
You can recharge either online via www.rechargeminutes.com or www.ekit.com, via the JT Travel App or via the automated service by phone or SMS until January 31st, 2021. No further recharges will be possible after that date including automatic recharges. We recommend that you use up any active credits by June 30th, 2021 as balances are non-refundable.
Can I get a refund for my remaining credit?
No, any unused credit or data will not be refunded. Please ensure all credit is used up before it expires and no later than by June 30th, 2021.
Can I keep my phone number?
The phone numbers will stay valid as per the normal expiry terms and conditions until no later than June 30th, 2021. After June 30th, 2021 when the service has been ceased, the numbers will no longer function for the ekit service. Please note that we do not provide number portability to other services.
How do I know if I have a SIM that will be affected?
Our SIMs have had many names over the years; International SIM, USA SIM, Europe SIM or International Data SIM and these SIMs have been issued by companies other than ekit and JT. Companies such as SIMTraveler.com, Contiki, Flight Centre, STA, 0044.co.uk, ISIC, Rail Plus, Parenthese, Telestial and Gosim have all been a part of our journey. Whatever the brand and product name, if you have ever recharged your SIM via www.rechargeminutes.com, www.ekit.com or the JT Travel App then you will be affected. If you have recharged over the phone via 181 or one of the numbers on http://ekit.com/ekit/AccessNumbers
then you will also be affected. Furthermore, if you have ever sent a topup code to our 181 service, you have a SIM that will be affected. If you are still uncertain about whether or not you have a SIM that will be affected, please email your mobile number to email@example.com
